The built in interface will allow the original audio controls on the steering wheel to work with an aftermarket radio.

This adapter cable is designed to be plug and play installed along with the BMW X5 & Range Rover L322 amplifier bypass cable. When used with the bypass cable, it will also provide speed pulse and reverse gear signals to the new radio.
